Dancing for a Cause -
"Dancing So That Children Can Walk" is a New Year's Eve celebration, and a charity benefit for the Shriners Children's Hospital. The event takes place December 31 at the Jamil Shrine Center Auditorium and includes music, dinner, breakfast and a huge wooden dance floor. Tickets are $40 per person in advance and $50 at the door. South Congaree Christmas Parade -
South Congaree Council members invite the entire community to the 2013 Christmas Parade, Saturday, December 13 starting at 3:30 p.m. The parade will begin at 281 Chapel Rd and travel right down Congaree's main street. So plan a good spot, and get ready to enjoy an afternoon of Christmas spirit. The Grand Marshall, State Senator Katrina Shealy will lead the parade. Parade judges include TV personality Rod Stokes with Wach Fox, Danny Effard, race car driver and Doug Enlow, popular long-time broadcast personality. Councilman Jerry Smith says this year brings a new addition. Immediately following the parade a ceremony will be held to officially light the South Congaree Christmas tree located at the corner of Highway 302 and Ramblin Rd. When the parade ends the public is invited to a neighborhood fellowship where the local churches will be serving hot cocoa and coffee.
